Dale L. Hitchings

Dale L. Hitchings, 94, a Cape Coral resident since 1977, formerly of Ohio, passed away Tuesday, March 21, 2017 in Ft. Myers, FL. He was born June 28, 1922 in Youngstown, OH to David and Bessie Hitchings, now deceased.

Dale was a WWII Veteran with the United States Army serving at Normandy and the Battle of the Bulge. He was a realtor in Cape Coral before retiring. Dale will also be remembered for his passion for flying, being a local flight instructor and private pilot for many years.

He is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Susan Kase-Hitchings of Cape Coral, FL; two children, Dennis Hitchings (Nancy) of Dublin, OH and Donna Shaw (Doyle) of Billings, MT, as well as three step-children, Lynne VanDyke (Jeff) of Cape Coral, FL, Matthew Wiese (Shelley) of Cape Coral, FL and Scott Wiese (Alycia) of Cape Coral; 11 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; as well as several nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Dale was preceded in death by his son, Douglas and two brothers, Warren and Robert.

A graveside service will be held 11:30 AM Monday, April 3, 2017 at Sarasota National Cemetery, 9810 State Road 72, Sarasota, FL 34241.
