Acelia Jarbath

Acelia Jarbath, a devoted servant of God and beloved mother, was called home at the age of 75 on December 7, 2023, surrounded by family and friends in Fort Myers, Florida.

Affectionately called “Mommy” by family, friends, and countless loved ones, Acelia was born on March 4^th, 1948 in Jacmel, Haiti to Acelia Deronett and Yram Jarbath. Like so many others in her community, she worked very hard in Haiti. Over time, Acelia, became a mother to five children: four sons and one daughter.  She always found strength in her deep faith to continue raising her family.

In the early 80’s, Acelia traveled to the United States to live with her life partner, Jacques Willy Pierre, settling in Fort Myers, Florida, who she was with for 33 years.

She was an entrepreneur in the import/export business for many years. Although she was retired, her work did not necessarily end. Acelia, best known later as “Grandma,” remained a vivacious woman throughout her life.  She was often up before the sun for work or to run her numerous errands as she tended to the needs of her extended family locally and in Haiti. Acelia enjoyed going on shopping expeditions for goods to ship back home to Haiti to sell and help support her family and others.     

Acelia delighted herself in her love for her children, grandchildren, extended family, as well as her faith. She attended Bassin Siloe Church. She is survived by, her five children, Thiery, Wilson (Nadine), Alex, Alain (Sandra), and Cathia (Frantz); one brother, Dulrille Jarbath; her grandchildren, Taica, Valery, DJaelle, Kacy, Van, Tuscany, Ayden, Daphca, Shanaya, Elynn, Alec, and Alexa; Extended family, Wilner (Rose), Wilfrid (Suze), Emmanuel, Suze, Sonel, Dady, Winchelle, and France;  Extended grandchildren, Sandler, Christopher, Samuel, Alisha, Julie, Coby, Dorothy, Micheal, Briana, Shama, Sebatien, Anna, and Alex; as well as a host of great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews, and many loving friends.

The family will receive friends for a Time of Visitation from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM on Friday, December 29, 2023 at Mullins Memorial, 3654 Palm Beach Boulevard, Fort Myers, FL 33916.

Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM on Saturday, December 30, 2023 at Community Church of Christ, 368 Herron Road, North Fort Myers, FL 33903. Burial to follow at Fort Myers City Cemetery, Michigan Avenue, Fort Myers, FL 33916.
