Anita Marie Kelly

Anita Marie Kelly, 87, a Lee County, Florida resident since 2006, formerly of Oneonta, New York, passed away Saturday, December 26, 2015 in Fort Myers, Florida. She was born November 8, 1928 in Brooklyn, New York to Thomas and Mary Peters, now deceased. Anita will be remembered for her strong Catholic faith and her love and devotion to her childhood sweetheart, best friend and husband of 63 years. Anita was an incredible mother to her children, a proud and doting Nana to her grandchildren, and the very best friend to many, that anyone could ask for. While raising her family on Long Island, Anita was a waitress for many years, and then an administrative assistant for the Valley Stream school union before moving to Oneonta. In Oneonta she worked in retail stores and did volunteer work at the local food pantry where her cheerful countenance and beautiful smile brightened the days of those around her. Anita was also very proud of her job as a sitter for the Lee Memorial Health System. She loved to crochet, take trips to Atlantic City and visit friends and family near and far, but her biggest joy came from spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was so proud of each and every one and their accomplishments. She is survived by her beloved husband of 63 years, Thomas Kelly, Sr. of Ft. Myers; six loving children, Eileen Lieber (Tom) of Cooperstown, NY, Thomas Kelly, Jr. (Jayne) of Oneonta, NY, Maureen Waddell of Cape Coral, FL, James Kelly (Janet) of Merrick, NY, Daniel Kelly (Nancy) of Lynbrook, NY and Robert Kelly (Debbie) of Cape Coral, FL; brother, Thomas Peters (Alice) of Alva, FL; 13 grandchildren; as well as many, many friends. A Memorial Service will be held 7:00 PM Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at Mullins Memorial, 3654 Palm Beach Blvd., Ft. Myers, FL 33916. The family will receive friends from 5:00pm-8:00pm. A Memorial Mass will be held 10:00 AM Thursday, December 31, 2015 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 2157 South Cleveland Ave., Ft. Myers, FL 33901 with Father Steve Clemente officiating.
