Arnold Ray Rebuck

Arnold Ray Rebuck, 87, a resident of Cape Coral, FL for the past 20 years, formerly of Wheaton, IL, passed away Saturday, April 29, 2023 in Cape Coral. He was born April 11, 1936 in Dixon, IL to Leroy and Elizabeth Rebuck, now deceased.

Ray attended Cape Christian Fellowship in Cape Coral. He grew up in Polo, Illinois and graduated from Polo Community High School. Ray received his Bachelor of Music Education degree from Illinois State Normal University, and his Master of Music Education degree from the University of Illinois. He taught music for 16 years in Illinois schools at Toluca, Tonica, and Mendota. He was a music contest adjudicator and festival choir director on many occasions, plus leading church choirs and county choruses. In his spare time, he played string bass in bands and combos.

He entered the ministry in 1973, attended Garret-Evangelical Seminary, received his Master of Divinity Degree and served the United Methodist Church as an Elder for 28 years at Millington, Sterling Trinity, Downers Grove Faith and Algonquin. In addition to preaching, he taught Bible studies, served on District and Conference Boards of Evangelism, lead New Life Missions, and taught about the Baptism of the Holy Spirit. He also took courses toward a Doctor of Ministry Degree at Fuller Seminary in Pasadena, California.

Upon retirement, Ray and Lynn moved to Cape Coral, Florida. Ray was active in Bible study groups and a mentor to many. He played hand-bells, sang in church choir, sang with the Southwest Florida Symphony Chorus and attended Cape Christian Church. They enjoyed the many visits of family and friends, and numerous trips to Illinois. Ray loved his family and his relationship with Jesus Christ.

He is survived by his loving wife of 21 years, Lynn Rebuck of Cape Coral; children, Steve, David, Suzanne, and Dwight (Irene); sister, Betty Jean; eight grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; as well as one nephew and two nieces.

Ray was preceded in death by a daughter.
