Barbara Ann Phillips Wicker

Barbara Ann Phillips Wicker, 87, a resident of Cape Coral, FL since 1995, formerly of Greensboro, NC, passed away Friday, March 31, 2023 in Cape Coral. She was born February 25, 1936 in Brady, TX to Ira and Estelle Phillips, now deceased.

Barbara was born and raised in Texas and proudly identified herself as a Texan, through and Through. She made sure you knew that. At age eleven, Barbara survived the Texas City Disaster in Galveston Bay, Texas on April 16, 1947. She attended Sam Houston College and Graduated with a bachelor’s degree from Georgia Southern University in Education. She taught in elementary and middle school in the Georgia school system.

Barbara then went on to owning and operating a convenience store in Greensboro, NC. She was an employee of Department of Social Services, Greensboro, NC for eleven years. She also worked for meals on wheels in Cape Coral, FL for four years.

Barbara was an avid gardener. She absolutely loved her orchids and attending to their special needs. They thrived under her care.

Barbara was of the Presbyterian faith and attended Trinity Presbyterian Church in North Fort Myers. Everyone that met Barbara was drawn to here exuberant and outgoing personality. She was loved by all who were fortunate enough to know her. She will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her loving husband of 28 years, Franklin G. Wicker of Cape Coral; children, Phillip Howard of Greensboro, NC, Dwight Howard (Raquel) of Oak Ridge, NC, Lisa Wicker of Burlington, NC, Michelle Davis of Quakertown, PA, and Kimberly Starnes (Charles) of England; as well as two nephews, six grandchildren, and one great grandchild.

Barbara was preceded in death by her brother, Larry Phillips.

Memorial services will be held at a later date at Alamance Memorial Park, Burlington, NC. No formal services will be held in Florida. Details to be announced via www.MullinsMemorial.com.
