Benedict Robert Izzo

Benedict Robert Izzo, 90, a Fort Myers, FL resident for the past 30 years, formerly of Toms River, NJ passed away Friday, April 29, 2016 in Bonita Springs, FL. He was born March 20, 1926, in the Bronx, NY to John and Antoinette Izzo.

Benedict was of the Catholic faith and a member of St. Vincent de Paul RC Church. He was a World War II Veteran who served in the US Navy on the USS Southerland 743.He was a member of both the American Legion Post 170 and the Knights of Columbus #1856. Benedict was also a Cub Master of Pack 188, managed Little League teams and he was on the entertainment committee in Rochelle Park, NJ.

He is survived by his loving wife, Anna V. Izzo of Fort Myers, FL; two children, Robert John Izzo (Lynn) of Fort Myers, FL, and Lisa Marie Martinez (Dr. Dante) of Toms River, NJ; one grandson, Derek Dante Martinez (Katherine) of Roseland, NJ; one sister, Josephine Califano (Michael) of Nutley, NJ; as well as nieces, nephews and many dear friends.

Memorial Services will be held 9:00 AM, Friday, October 28, 2016 at St. Vincent de Paul Roman Catholic Church, 13031 Palm Beach Blvd., Fort Myers, FL 33905. Committal services at Sarasota National Cemetery, 9810 State Road 72, Sarasota, FL 34241 will follow.
