Benjamin "Ben" J. Bowden

Benjamin James Bowden, 82, a resident of Cape Coral, FL for the past 15 years, formerly of Peabody, MA passed away January 2, 2017 in Cape Coral. He was born January 13, 1934 in Marblehead, MA to Benjamin M. and Theresa B O'Sullivan, now deceased. Benjamin was of the Catholic faith. He graduated from Marblehead High School and joined the Army, was Honorably Discharged in 1958, and returned to Burdett College of Boston for a degree in Accounting. Raised in the historical seafaring town of Marblehead, MA (birthplace of the American Navy), Ben grew up sailboat racing and fishing. He later enjoyed power boating, and cruises with friends. He was a member of the U.S. Power Squadron as well as the Nathaniel Bowditch Society Boat Club. He loved U.S. History and visiting historic landmarks around the country. He had a fantastic memory and could recite numerous poems his Irish Mum taught him as a child. He was a kind, caring and loyal friend. Benjamin is survived by his beloved wife, Gayle Bowden of Cape Coral; as well as his faithful dog Kaleb. No formal services are planned at this time.
