Mrs. Betty Jo Garris

Mrs. Betty Jo Garris, 77, went to be with Our Lord & Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, December 30, 2023 after a long battle with cancer.

Betty was born in Mullins, SC to the late Lacy & Inez Rogers Hutchinson of Nichols, SC. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Connie R. Garris, of 27 years at the time of his death. She is also preceded in death by brothers, Roger Hutchinson and Eugene Hutchinson.

Betty lived a full life and enjoyed spending all of her time with her Family & Friends. She loved fishing, dining out, going to the beach, watching football, loved vacations with her Grandkids, and enjoyed the Holidays. She especially enjoyed decorating the house for Halloween and Christmas. 

She is survived by a sister, Diane Hayes; daughter, Penny Piner of Gresham, SC; son, John Garris of Hope Mills, NC and her daughter & Caregiver Bobbi Mitchell (Michael Mitchell) of the home in Florida. She also leaves behind 5 grandkids, Trenton and Sydney of NC, and Mikaela, Nathen, & Alex of the home in Cape Coral, FL. She had a very special bond with her youngest grandson, Alex, and reared him as her own. She also leaves behind a host of other family members and friends that will miss her dearly. 

We thank you all for Loving her and the collective expressions of sympathy. She will be missed, but never forgotten. 

Friends and Family will be received for Public Viewing on Saturday, January 6, 2024 from 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM at COOKE FUNERAL HOME, 202 North Main Street, Lake View, SC, 29563.

A PRIVATE Celebration of Life will be held.

In Lieu of Flowers, monetary donations may be made to Cooke Funeral Home in her name.
