Brian Ian Kerr, a 51-year-old resident of Cape Coral, Florida, passed away on Monday, December 2, 2024. Born on March 16, 1973, in Columbus, Ohio, Brian was a loving husband, son, grandson, and friend.
Brian’s remarkable ability to recall facts and details that others often overlook made him an exceptional conversationalist. This ‘useless knowledge’ as he touted, proved invaluable in his career as an automotive sales and finance professional. It’s no wonder that every member of his family owned a Toyota, Acura, or Land Rover—if they didn’t, he tried to sell them one!
A passionate sports enthusiast, Brian was particularly fond of college football. He eagerly anticipated each season to watch his beloved Buckeyes. This year, he would be thrilled to know that they’re headed to the national championship game. Go Bucks! Brian also enjoyed baseball and spent countless summer days watching or listening to his favorite team, the Cincinnati Reds. In fact, he has a commemorative brick with his name inscribed on it at Great American Ballpark.
Brian, a Key West, FL enthusiast, cherished his vacation experiences and yearned to reside near his beloved destination. In 2017, his dream came true when he and his husband relocated to Southwest Florida. Seeking a career change, Brian embarked on a new journey at ACE Hardware, where he passionately shared his grilling and smoking expertise with every customer he encountered. His enthusiasm for these culinary arts led him to eagerly acquire every new gadget, grill, and smoker that hit the market.
As a foodie, Brian’s palate was a treasure trove of delight. While he savored a diverse array of cuisines, coney dogs and 3-ways from Skyline Chili, beef chow fun, and pulled pork sandwiches with Montgomery Inn barbecue sauce held a special place in his heart. Corndogs and cheese-on-a-stick trucks at fairs and festivals were also irresistible treats.
Beyond his culinary adventures, Brian was an avid follower of the Food Network, which he affectionately called the Guy Fieri Network. However, his interests extended beyond cooking; he also enjoyed evenings on the lanai listening to music or a night in watching TV or a good action movie or comedy. In his younger years, Brian developed a remarkable collection of comics, possessing an encyclopedic knowledge of every superhero and villain in the Marvel and DC universes.
Brian found immense joy in spending his days with his husband and dogs along the sunny shores of Florida. His memory will forever be etched in our hearts, and whenever we miss him, let these words from his beloved Dave Matthews Band resonate with us: “The space between the tears we cry, is the laughter… keeps us coming back for more.”
He is survived by his beloved husband, Rob Baisden of Cape Coral; his parents, Jack and Debbie Kerr of Columbus, OH; his maternal grandparents, Bill and Kathy White of Gahanna, OH; his paternal grandmother, Rose Kerr of Columbus, OH; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins; and his two beloved Vizslas, Parker and Quint.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date in Columbus, OH. Details will be announced on www.MullinsMemorial.com.
In leu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Brian’s name to the Cape Coral Animal Shelter, 325 SW 2nd Ave, Cape Coral, FL 33991.
Mullins Memorial Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Cape Coral is entrusted with final care.
