Carol Louise Todd

May 22, 1931 — August 12, 2024

On August 12, 2024, our mom went home to be with her Savior. Carol Louise Todd circled the sun 93 times and lived a life of loving and helping others succeed whenever she could.

Born in New York City in 1931, Carol along with her parents, two brothers and one sister migrated via steamer in 1938 to a then “small little town” in South Florida known as Miami. After graduation from Miami Senior High and marriage, Carol entered the banking field as a teller in the early 60’s at City National Bank in Coral Gables. In the late 60’s she relocated to the Tampa area where she continued her banking career. Carol was a pioneer businesswoman in a young Brandon, Florida (Tampa suburb) that was rapidly growing economically and in population. She was one of Brandon’s earliest women bankers, starting at what was then Brandon State Bank. She then moved to Barnett Bank and finished her career with 19 years at Valrico State Bank as vice president of business development. Her success was certainly due to hard work, but more than that it was her love of people, and her innate desire to help them succeed. She just loved it. You could walk in to about any store or business in the Hillsborough County area and the owner would know or know of Carol. She was midway through her career when she was selected as Hillsborough County businesswoman of the year.  She was also very involved in both the Brandon and Riverview Chambers of Commerce, winning Brandon’s Honorary Mayor title in 1987, along with many other awards for business accomplishments and service.

But more important than all this, she was a great mom.  Her love and adoration for her kids, grandkids, and great grandchildren was always present. She was a constant support and advocate of whatever they were doing. She worked hard always doing her best even when life dealt her difficult challenges. Through it all, she always persevered and maintained a great sense of humor. She loved beautiful things, art, interior decorating, clothing and costume jewelry. LOTS of clothing and costume jewelry! Those of you who had the privilege of knowing Carol were indeed blessed.

Carol Louise Todd was a beautiful person, a one of a kind, and will be sorely missed. But, this isn't the end of the story!  A woman of faith (as is her whole family), we know we will see her again. Hallelujah and amen!

She is survived by four loving children, Mike/Barbara Maxwell of Miromar Lakes, Florida; Dan/Paula Maxwell of North Fort Myers, Florida; Craig/Lori Todd of Riverview, Florida and Melissa/Ross Chamberlain of Cummings, Georgia; siblings Marta Ronca of Fort Lauderdale, Florida; Richard “Duke’ (Ann) Woodhull of Brevard, North Carolina; nine grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews.

A private family gathering will take place in lieu of a public service.
