Carole Ann Mathis

Carole Ann became our angel peacefully on December 14, 2023 at 78 years old. She was born to S. Jane and Garrett B. Crews on July 7, 1945 in DuQuoin, IL. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Philip Young (1985-2004), son Larry Charles Vogt and grandparents.

She is remembered by her husband Marvin Mathis, son Chad (Billie) Vogt, Edmond, OK; brother Gary (Carol) Crews, Taylorville, IL; stepsons Brian (Tracey) Mathis, Rochester, IL; Brad (Connie) Mathis, Ringgold, GA; and stepdaughter Kim (Jeff) Nichols, Pawnee, IL.

She is also remembered by nephews Steven Crews, Michael Crews and niece Dana Ann (Adam) Keating Carole's grandchildren Seth (Nicole) Shipp, Garrett Vogt and GraceAnn Vogt; step grandchildren Austin, Ryan and Evan Mathis; Ashley (Jonathon) Pankey and Evan (Hannah) Smith; Kamron and Jory Nicholes; and step great grandchildren Skylar, Sebastian and Shaylah Shipp, Cashus, Alexander, Dahlia and Lily Smith. She is also survived by her cousins Vicki Simpson, Joyce (Don) Wisely and Dale (Janet) Crews.

Carole and Marvin loved to travel the world seeing such places as Italy, Greece, Australia, and France. They enjoyed spending time in FL at their condo, golfing and going to Cardinals baseball games. Carole had a large scrapbooking family that she enjoyed, making greeting cards and playing cards.

Memorial Services will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, January 6, 2024 at Pawnee Assembly of God, 1001 8th St, Pawnee, IL 62558 with a Luncheon to follow at 11:00 AM. Family and friends are suggested to leave at 12:00 PM to drive to St. Andrew's Cemetery, Illinois Ave, Murphysboro, IL 62966 for the 3:00 PM graveside service.

Memorials may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, Pawnee Assembly of God or donor's choice.
