Carolyn Hope Newton, 86, a resident of Cape Coral, FL, formerly of Flint, MI, passed away at home Sunday, June 8, 2025. She was born February 19, 1939, in Flint, MI, to Morris and Lois Barrentine, now deceased.
Carolyn practiced the Christian faith and was affiliated with Jimmy Swaggart Ministries. She graduated from Central High School in Flint, MI. She was a homemaker and held various part-time jobs throughout her career. She earned an Associate Degree, which enabled her to work as a medical transcriptionist. One of her favorite roles was serving as the Office Manager for the Assemblies of God Church in Flint, Michigan. Above all, the family agrees with their sister Kim, "Our Mother loved her family with all of her heart. She kept us all in her daily prayers, and her love for all of us will be in our hearts till we meet again."
She is survived by her three loving children, Michael Newton (Pamela) of Las Vegas, NV, Kimberly Daily (Jeffrey) of Purcellville, VA and Mark Newton of Cape Coral, FL; siblings, Jerry Barrentine (Tish) of Denver, NC, Barbara Scott of Clio, MI, and Dave Barrentine (Jerry Jean) of Grand Blanc, MI; brother-in-law, Ron Baker of Flint, MI; four grandchildren, Sarah Castleman (David), James Poteat (Lisa), Michael Birkmeier, and Penelope Heavner as well as five great grandchildren, Ella and Colin Birkmeier, Aryanna Heavner and, Kameryn and David Castleman.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband, Charles L. Newton, in 2021, and two sisters, Joyce Parr and Daryl Baker.
