Charles “Charlie” Russo, Sr., was born September 28, 1932 in Patchogue on Long Island, NY. He turned 90 the day Hurricane Ian hit Florida. Charlie left this world peacefully on Sunday, December 18, 2022 at Hope Hospice due to pneumonia.
Charlie made the most of high school by excelling in sports, going to Yankee games, and Giants games, when able. After graduation he spent his army years in Labrador, then returned to Patchogue and married Janet Davis. They enjoyed many years of golfing and boating with friends on the great South Bay. They were eventually joined by daughter, JoAnne and Charlie, Jr.. After their children left for college they moved to Florida to be near family. Janet lived to see her four grandchildren, Katie, Charlie, III, Anna, and Nikki before she passed away from cancer.
On May 3, 2003 Charlie and Dale Marshall got married. They had been high school sweethearts, but as it often happens the relationship ended for some 65 years. At their wedding the neighbors gave Charlie a Yankee shirt and Dale a Mets shirt, hoping to keep the peace. They had a short but precious 20 years together and Dale's children loved him dearly, as did everyone who ever met him. He was greatly loved and is greatly missed, and it is difficult to imagine a world without Charlie in it.
Charles was preceded in death by his first wife, Janet Davis in 1999; parents, John and Anna Russo; as well as four brother and two sisters.
