Christine Ellen Arend

Christine Ellen Arend, 99, a resident of Cape Coral, FL for the past 35 years, formerly of Wauchula, FL and Fort Wayne, IN, passed away Monday, June 10, 2024 in Cape Coral. She was born August 14, 1924 in Paulding, OH to Frank and Theresa Reinhart, now deceased.

Chris was a member of St. John the Baptist Church in Fort Wayne and St. Michael’s in Wauchula, FL. She was a great wife and mother raising 11 children. After she retired from working as a silkscreen technician, she was able to become more active in her community volunteering and teaching water aerobics classes. She loved music. She played the piano and clarinet and sang in the church choir. She was a champion shuffleboard player and loved all card and board games. She loved to read and did many different crafts.

She is survived by her loving ten children, Carol Spicer (Paul) of Fort Wayne, IN, Michael Arend (Pam) of Paulding OH, Susan Arend Baxter (Mike) of Cape Coral, FL, Larry Arend of Churubusco, IN, Diane Eckert (Stephen) of Fort Wayne, IN, Sandra Silva (Arthur) Cape Coral, FL, Rose Bock (Scott) of Odessa, FL, Denise Simshauser (Steve) of Penn Yan, NY, Timothy Arend (Melynda) of Churubusco, IN, and Michele Kelch (Bret) of Columbus, IN; 22 grandchildren; as well as 29 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Christine was preceded in death by her husband, Basil Arend; a son, Dennis Arend; as well as nine siblings.

No formal services are planned in Florida. A Memorial service will be held at a later date in Indiana.
