Claudine Ann Cody passed away peacefully at the young age of 60 with her loving husband Kent by her side. She was born on the 4th of July, 1964 in Brooklyn, New York. Claudine was a strong Christian woman but had to leave us to be with the Lord on October 12, 2024 after a short 1-year battle with cancer. She had the full support of all her family through this very difficult time. Her mother Ann was instrumental in providing continuous loving, calming support for her daughter all through this challenging period. Her mother was with her all night and throughout the day of this ill-timed finale.
Claudine enjoyed a magnificent childhood and upbringing with her parents and two older brothers. Her family shared countless fun filled outings, snow sledding, vacations and get-togethers with relatives and friends. And things were always festive for the holidays. They had an above ground pool and entertained the whole neighborhood when the water wasn’t too chilly. Her dad James was often called the mayor of his block and where he entertained the kiddos with his jokes, food and lots of his antics. Jim and Ann loved all the kids and made everyone welcome at their humble abode.
All through middle school and high school Claudine was very vigorous with her cheerleading performances for football games and with county/state competitions. She even played the clarinet in school band in 7th and 8th grade. After graduating in 1983 she held jobs at Renfield Liquor and Readers Digest. In 1987 Claudine moved to Germany with her former husband who was in the Canadian Army. She lived on base and worked for the military as a purchasing agent for 5 years. In 1991 she returned to America. Then in 1993 she was employed by Stratton Oakmont (Wolf of Wall Street) in Long Island where she first met Sheryl Cinelli where they became close friends from then on. Claudine moved to Maryland to help open another office for Stratton in 1994. She left the state of New York and moved to Fort Myers, FL in 1996. She worked for Smith Barney in Fort Myers as a sales assistant and became good friends with Michael Freitag (big Michael). Claudine also worked for Alliance Financial Group as a financial advisor where she met her long-time friend Sunny Kroser. Claudine went on to pass the difficult Series 7 securities exam and worked for Merrill Lynch Wealth Management in Cape Coral to market and sell corporate stock as a General Securities Representative.
After the financial crash of 9-11, 2001 Claudine pulled herself up by the bootstraps and decided to make a major change in direction to go back to school in the health care industry. In 2002 Claudine and Kent started dating. They met around the pool since they both lived in the same condo development. These two quickly became an item and got married on March 26, 2004. There was a pause in Claudine’s medical schooling at Edison College since she and her husband Kent had decided previously to get pregnant. Consequently, Ethan was born October 28, 2004. Claudine resumed her schooling some months later and earned her Associates Degree in ICTV, Invasive Cardio Vascular Technology. She then secured a job at Health Park Hospital as a Cardiac Cath Tech in the Cath Lab where she worked for 15 years. Claudine wanted to get out of health care in 2016 so she went to work remotely for her brother at Craig Cody & Co. Inc. Craig was the CPA of his own firm in the New York area. Claudine was in marketing to bring in new clients for the business and also did some bookkeeping. Unfortunately, Claudine became ill in 2023 and had to stop working.
This gorgeous, strong-willed lady, Claudine had many note-worthy achievements over her lifetime. However, if she were still around to express her top priorities in life, she would tell you that having/raising her son Ethan and her role as a mother, a wife, a daughter, a sister and a true friend to many individuals were her most treasured accomplishments of all.
Claudine leaves behind a lasting legacy of love and devotion. She had a heart of compassion and always looked for ways to help her family and others. Claudine is now in Heaven, free from pain and dancing with Jesus.
Claudine is survived by her loving husband, Kent Kelley of Fort Myers, FL; mother, Ann Cody of Fort Myers, FL; son, Ethan Kelley of Houston, TX; two brothers, Jim Cody (Denise) of Chicago, IL and Craig Cody (Lourdes) of Roslyn Heights, NY, six nieces and nephews Daniel Cody (Inelza), Ellen Cody, Katherine Cody, Michaela Cody Mayer (Mitchell), Brian Cody, Evelyn Cody, great nephew James William Cody, great niece Clementine Ann Mayer, three step children, Aubrey Kelley, Nigel Kelley, Darby Bethuy (Cory) as well as three step grandchildren Kaleb Kelley, Ronan Bethuy and Regan Bethuy.
