Cynthia Hall Brackett, 70, a resident of North Fort Myers since 2003, formerly of New Harbor, ME, passed away Thursday, January 2, 2025 in North Fort Myers. She was born March 18, 1954 in Yonkers, NY to Warren and Dorothy Hall, now deceased.
Cindy was a beloved member of the New Harbor and Ft. Myers communities. Moving to Maine in 1972 to start a family, she immediately befriended all that came in her path. She was “mom” to so many New Harbor kids as she loved having a full house where kids wanted to play with homemade play-doh, determine whodunnit in video Clue and build countless snow forts with hot chocolate waiting! At the prompting of friends, Cindy started the Captain’s Catch in 1985 which quickly became a meeting place for all things. Delicious food, amazing people, a lifetime of memories! No tourist escaped conversation with Cindy; many becoming lifelong friends and mentors to the family. She was an amazing member of the community being a Den Mother, full-time driver of 4 very busy kids, employer, and homemaker. Most importantly, she was family to all, past and present. Her impression of family remained strong thus Brackett, Hall, Prior & Griffin all remained close in real life and forever in her heart.
In 2003, life took her to SW Florida where she sought the sunshine in the same path as her in-laws, Jim & Leona Brackett. Her early Florida years saw her get a Pharmacy Tech License and begin a whole new career where her friendly face and cheerful personality made her a favorite amongst pharmacy customers. Cindy loved feeding people so quickly built a community in the Sunseeker’s RV Park where she’d fire up her grill and open her patio to those wanting a home cooked meal with a side of laughter. An avid fan of cruise ships, she went on over a dozen cruises, always enjoying the cuisine, shows, conversation and sunshine that the Caribbean offered. Above all else, Cindy loved her family and friends, rarely missing annual trips to Maine and Arizona to make the visiting rounds.
She is survived by three loving children, Robert Brackett of Scottsdale, AZ, Elizabeth Whitman of Austin, TX, and John Brackett of New Harbor, ME; as well as three grandchildren, Mason, Dylan, and Anna. Cindy was predeceased by her first son, Neil Prior.
