Dal Stubblefield

July 29, 1954 — March 18, 2023

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Dal Stubblefield, 68, a resident of Cape Coral, FL since 2001, formerly of Wadsworth, OH, on Saturday, March 18, 2023 in Cape Coral. He was born July 29, 1954 in Akron, OH to Ridley and Earline Stubblefield, now deceased.

Dal was of the Catholic faith. He grew up in Norton, Ohio and was one of four boys.  He always had a love for sports.  When he was a kid he loved playing football, baseball, riding four wheelers, dirt bikes and go karts.  He loved fishing with his dad and climbing apple trees with his brothers.   He loved that his Dad would enjoy watching and supporting him in whichever sport he was playing at the time. He met his wife Mary when he was 24 years old and they were married on May 5, 1979.  They enjoyed boating together and took a trip across the country.  Mary said Yellowstone was his favorite stop along the way. Dal was meant to be a Father.  His love for his kids was immeasurable. One of his favorite things in life was coaching, especially his kids. Dal loved coaching both his son and daughter in Soccer and had so much pride in both of his teams, “The Fireballs”.  He treasured the life long friends and memories that he made with his kids and the families of the kids he coached.  He so enjoyed the many “Soccer Vacations” we would take for tournaments and would always talk about the memories made there. He had immense pride in how talented his son, Ryan was in Soccer and Football. Dal loved watching College and Professional Sports.  He was a true Browns and Buckeyes fan until the day he died.  Honestly, it didn't matter what sport was on TV he would watch it.  When he wasn’t coaching, Dal loved fishing in Canada with family and friends.  He loved camping and boating in Apple Valley; and spending time in Tennessee and boating and skiing. Dal loved spending time with his lifelong friends, Zalvin and Chris Miktarian, Gary and Susan Beke and Bruce and Kay Riley.  They grew up together, vacationed together, raised kids together, shared holidays and all the important events.  They weren’t just friends to him, they were family.   He loved visiting and spending time with his Brother-In-Law, Tom Biglin and Sister-in-law, Kathy Biglin, and all his nieces and nephews.  Dal worked in sales most of his life.  He retired from Prudential and owned Stubblefield Insurance with his wife, Mary.  He enjoyed his part time job at Home Depot and the friends that he made there.  Sales just suited Dal.  He loved to talk.  He would talk to anyone that passed by and would know their whole life story in a matter of minutes.  The one thing Dal was most proud of was becoming a Papa.  He loved his grandkids more than anything.  He was incredibly proud of each and every one of them and their individual talents.  Whether it was their grades, taking Jace to Nasa, track, football, baseball, gymnastics, dance recitals, horseback riding or cheer he was there supporting them and loved every minute of it.  He enjoyed all their different personalities and watching them grow.  He thought the world of each of them and was so proud of who they were all becoming.  Jace, Kainen, Mila, Izabella and Hollie brought him so much joy and he would light up any time they were around. You will never forget how it felt to hug him! Dal had a love for his pets, especially his boxer Coby and his dog Darbee and his KitKat Opie!  Dal was described by everyone he met as a kind, happy, funny, loyal man.  He had a good heart and a big presence here that will be impossible to not miss.  To know him was to love him. There will be no greater guardian angel watching over all the people he cared about.  He will forever live on in all of us.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 43 years, Mary Stubblefield of Cape Coral; two loving children, Shawna Adkins-Haney (Chad) of Cape Coral, and Ryan Dal Stubblefield (Danielle) of Boone, NC; two brothers, Jack Stubblefield (Loraine) of Gainesboro, TN, and John Stubblefield (Diane) of Barberton, OH; eight grandchildren, Jace, Kainen, Izabella, Mila, Hollie, Nolan, Cooper, and Ella; several nieces and nephews; as well as Darbee, the dog and Opie Kitkat, the cat.
