Daniel Timothy Johns

Daniel Timothy Johns, 79, died April 14, 2025 in Fort Myers, FL. Born in Erie, PA on April 12, 1946 to Charles Anthony Johns and Dorothymae Kiehlmeier Johns.

Dan grew up in Marion, OH before moving to Lima, OH where he lived much of his adult life. Dan retired from Ford Motor Company where he utilized his electrician skills for decades.

In 2012, Dan realized his lifelong dream of living near the waterfront when he and his family moved to Bokeelia, FL on Pine Island, his piece of “paradise”. Dan spent early mornings meeting up with friends at Cap’n Cons for coffee and would return in the evening to enjoy the beautiful sunset from the pier.

Dan was charismatic, to say the least. He knew no strangers and lived life on his terms. His adventurous, free spirit was clearly evident. His family and friends were his reason for living and were the absolute joy of his life. He had the ability to leave each of his children believing they were his favorite! His smile could light up a room and draw you into his soul. He gave the best hugs!

Always ready for fun, Dan enjoyed all outdoor activities. Dan began riding Harleys (probably before he had a license!). He was an avid fisherman and boater even earning his captain’s license. He loved to hunt, especially deer, and search for Indian artifacts. He loved racing of all kinds. His love of flowers he inherited from his mother. He especially cherished his orchids and proudly offered growing advice to anyone who inquired. Dan was very generous with his time, always willing to help anyone in any way.

Despite the progression of dementia, Dan’s polite manners and friendliness were often evident to staff, other residents and visitors.

Dan’s large family gathered around him his final days to shower him with love and prayers for comfort and peace. Dan is preceded in death by his parents, and by his sister, Mary Charlene Johns. Dan is survived by his wife of 33 years, Elizabeth ‘Beth’ Johns; siblings Leslie (Sam) McGeady, Kevin (Angela) Johns, Bela Bowley; children Timothy (Karie) Johns, Julie (Michael) Griffis, Charles Johns, Daniel (Sharalyn) Johns, Jessica (Blake) Johns, Nathan (Micayla) Johns, David Bailey, Anthony Johns, Kayla (Zach) Forster; grandchildren Timmy, Cole, Carly, Alera, Acelynn, Selah, Noah, Jackson, Hailey, Tatum, Bennett, Jessica, Holly and Mister; cousins Emily and Paul Frantz who added so much joy to his life this past year; extended family and countless friends especially lifelong buddies Dusty (Sharon) Jones and Dave (Janeene) Matteson. Dan freely gave his abundant love to family and friends. It’s part of his legacy and for which he will always be remembered.
