Daniel Michael O’Brien, Sr.

Daniel Michael O’Brien, Sr., 75, a resident of Estero, FL, for the past fourteen years, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Monday, November 20, 2023 in Fort Myers, FL.

A lifelong resident of Pittsburgh, PA, until his retirement, Daniel was born on May 24, 1948, in Canonsburg, PA, to William and Joan O’Brien (deceased). He is preceded in death by his siblings, William O’Brien and Patricia O’Brien.

Daniel was a Veteran of the United States Navy, serving in the Vietnam War, before beginning his career at Universal Stainless and Alloy in Bridgeville, PA, where he was a supervisor for 44 years. Devoted to his faith since childhood, he was raised in the Catholic church and was a devout parishioner at St. Leo the Great in Bonita Springs, FL. Daniel was also a proud member of The Masonic Lodge and The Knights of Columbus Catholic fraternal service order.

Married to his high school sweetheart, Josie, for 53 years, Daniel and his beloved wife went on to raise three beautiful children: Daniel O’Brien, Jr. of Pittsburgh, PA, Jennifer (Mick) Barry of Parrish, FL, and Roseann (Julian) Daleasandro of Cape Coral, FL. He was the cherished and adoring grandfather to Danny and Chase O’Brien, Danielle and Vincent Barry, and Josie and Julian Daleasandro.

We will remember Dan for his kind eyes, warm smile, and sharp wit. He enjoyed golfing, traveling with his wife, and spending time with his grandchildren. He was always ready to lend a helping hand, he was a true champion of compassion and generosity.

Daniel is survived by his devoted wife, children, and grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and extended family.
