David Steven Zajac

David Steven Zajac, 68, a resident of Cape Coral, FL, formerly of North Andover and Lawrence, MA, unexpectedly arrived at the Golden Gates Saturday, April 19, 2025. He was born November 18, 1956 in Lawrence, MA to Frederick and Viola (Borowski) Zajac of North Andover, MA, now deceased.

David was of the Catholic faith. He was a devoted husband, father, son, brother, and uncle and had built enduring friendships throughout his life. He was generous with his love and humor, and was known for his happy-go-lucky nature, as well as his political views. A 1974 graduate of North Andover High School, David attended Northern Essex Community College but found a strong affinity for cooking. He went on to serve as head chef at the Osgood Hill Conference Center of North Andover, where he orchestrated “Zeb’s Zoo Day”. Afterward, he worked for several years as an electronics technician for RTC. He continued his culinary passion throughout his life, hosting family and friends for holidays and barbecues. Always the grill master with heart, he left guests with full bellies and cherished memories.

David enjoyed annual camping trips to the White Mountains, Hermit Island of Maine, and other campgrounds throughout New England with his wife and sons. He watched his children, with pride, play basketball and baseball, and enjoyed countless Friday nights visiting his brother and sister-in-law in Lowell. David loved boating and fishing in New England, and continued exploring the waters of the Gulf taking his wife island hopping and shelling after moving to Florida in 2009. He had a passion for golf and played many rounds with loved ones on courses in the Merrimack Valley and Southwest Florida. The 19th hole awaits you. His life with his bride, Debbie, was a promise fulfilled for over 42 years. We will all remember David’s smile, calm demeanor, generosity, sense of humor and the twinkle in his eye. Though he is no longer with us, his warm spirit and love remain eternally with us.

He is survived by loving wife of 42 years, Debra (Pawlik) Zajac of Cape Coral; two children, Steven Zajac of Somerville, MA and Kyle Zajac of Haverhill, MA; as well as one sister, Dawna (Zajac) Perez (David) of Haverhill, MA; brother-in-law, Michael Pawlik of North Andover, MA; lifelong friend John “Tumbleweed” Pasternak of Kensington, NH, and numerous nieces, nephews, and loved ones.

David was preceded in death by two sons, David Zajac and Zachariah Zajac; and two brothers, Wayne Zajac and Steven Zajac.

A celebration of life will be held this fall in Massachusetts.
