Dawn Elaine Garrick

Dawn Elaine Garrick, 58, a Cape Coral resident since 1986, formerly of Brooklyn, New York, passed away on Monday, June 15, 2015 in Cape Coral. She was born on January 28, 1957 in London, England. Dawn's main goal in life was to become a Registered Nurse. She had a calling to help the sick and needy. She was always willing to go the extra mile for her patients. From September 1975 to June 1978 she attended the Jewish Hospital School of Nursing in Brooklyn, New York where she graduated with a Diploma in Nursing. From January 1993 to March 1995 she attended the Collage of St Francis Health Arts Program in Joliet, IL here she completed several courses towards a bachelors in health care administration. From June 1995 to December 1995, she attended the Florida Risk Management Institute in Clearwater, FL where she completed 120 hours in healthcare rick management licensure program. She was also certified in Trauma Nursing Curriculum, Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course, and ACLS. Dawn was also affiliated with the Florida Nurses Association and the Emergency Nurses Association. Shortly after moving to Florida she became a member at Kings Way Christian Center. She was very involved with the church volunteering, part of bible study groups, young at heart, 1000 sisters, etc. She enjoyed going on the women's retreat every year she was able too. She truly was a believer!! From when Dawn was young she knew the medical field was her calling. She strived for perfection always researching for the next best thing the medical field had to offer. Dawn wanted to follow her parent's footsteps. Her mother was a nurse and her father was a pharmacist. Ultimately she wanted job and financial security for her family. Dawns hobbies involved gardening, puzzles, and reading. She enjoyed sitting out on the porch reading the word of Christ. She enjoyed taking trips to Jamaica with her friends. Dawn spent a lot of her time with the church as well. She was a very caring, strong, self-motivated and spiritual person. She will be missed by many.

She is survived by her loving mother, Hazel Danvers of Cape Coral; loving son, Jermain Garrick of Fort Myers; four loving brothers, Scott Beckford of Jamaica, Donald Beckford of Miami, Newton and Stuart Bailey, both of Jamaica; three grandchildren, Hana, Kari, and Donovan; as well her best friend, Marlene Duarte of Cape Coral.

Dawn was preceded in death by her father, Lloyd Bailey.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11am on Saturday July 11th at King's Way Christian Center, 2016 Kismet Parkway, Cape Coral, FL 33909 with Pastor Dan officiating.
