Deborah Ann (Moore) Russell or Debbie/Deb as she was known to most friends and family, passed on Friday July 5th due to ongoing heart complications. She was a free spirit to the end with an unabashed fanatical love of Willie Nelson, her dog Brandywine and her cranky husband Frank.
Deb was born in Illinois and moved to Boston on a houseboat where she met Frank, at a Boston City Council meeting on assault weapons. She still decided to stay after that and they got married in 1992 at the Savin Hill Yacht Club.
She loved gardening and planting things that Frank could not identify. She had a great garden in South Boston including raspberries from her grandparents garden back in Illinois, that expanded widely over the years, including to some friends and relatives gardens to this day.
Deb loved camping, canoeing, kayaking, making stone jewelry, concerts and good music from days gone by. She also enjoyed smoking the devil’s lettuce from her favorite Cheech and Chong pipe. Debbie loved to paint and many of her watercolors are hanging up in friends and families houses as a reminder of her talent.
When they moved to Cape Coral Florida in 2009, Debbie started tending to the local birds and turtles in the canal behind their house. They were well fed and brought great joy to Deb to have them all flock around.
Frank and Debbie were very lucky to have great neighbors and friends in the Cape Coral area. They checked in on Debbie and Brandy when Frank had to travel back to Boston and have been a great support network for them over the years.
Debbie will be missed by many, friends and family alike. And in the immortal words of her beloved Willie Nelson : “Once you replace negative thoughts with positive ones, you'll start having positive results”
