Debra N. Smith, 59, of Zolfo Springs, Florida, formerly of Teays Valley, West Virginia, passed away Monday, March 30, 2015 at the Tidewell Hospice House, Arcadia, Florida, after a courageous three year battle with ovarian cancer. Debbie was born February 4, 1956 in Richwood, West Virginia to the late Leo and Edith Nicholas. She was an associate member of Peace Valley Lutheran Church in Wauchula, Florida. She is survived by her loving husband of 25 years, Robert Smith. Additional survivors include sisters Bonnie Robinson, (Larry), Craigsville, West Virginia, Beverly Perkins, (Jeff), Fenwick, West Virginia, Cindy Smith, brothers, Timmy Nicholas,( Nettie), Britt Nicholas, (Ann), all of Richwood, West Virginia as well as many nieces, nephews and good friends.

Debbie obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree from West Virginia State University, and a Masters in Computer Science from Marshall University. She began her career at Nicholas County Board of Education and was later employed with the Kanawha County Board of Education. Upon her retirement from the West Virginia Department of Education Office of Child Nutrition in 2004, she and Robert became "full timers" and traveled throughout the United States in their motor coach. Debbie and Robert were ambassadors for Camping World for more than seven years working in many different states.

Memorial Services will be held later in places Debbie loved: the foothills of North Carolina, beaches of South Carolina, hills of West Virginia, and sunny Florida. Times and locations are to be announced.
