Dewey Wayne Meekins passed away at his home in Cape Coral, FL on Thursday June 13, 2024. He was born December 28, 1968, in Dover, DE to the late Earl W. Meekins and Barbara J. Marshall.
After graduating, Dewey eventually pursued his passion for carpentry and started his own construction company, Meekins Builders. He was a perfectionist in his trade and took pride in everything he worked on. The detail in his work was a true testament to his craftmanship, no matter if it were for a customer, or simply helping his friends.
Dewey was known for his big heart, love for family and friends, and his infectious love for the great outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. Dewey had the unique ability to make anyone smile and offer advice when needed. Dewey will be greatly missed but never forgotten, as we, his loved ones and his close lifelong friends will always share core memories, pretty good (dry) jokes and fondly remember his unforgettable singing skills. He will be with us in those moments. We won’t forget the life he lived and all the memories he made with each of us.
Dewey leaves behind a loving wife (Pamela Lomax), and together they raised their family, Earlléna (Lana) Meekins, Dewey Meekins Jr., Courtney Conn-Johnson and William (Charlie) Conn whom he loved with all his heart. Dewey grew up alongside his sisters Bobbie Shown (Mitch), Julie Meekins and his brother Shannon Stinton (Michelle) nieces Ashley Marshall, Destiny Everage, Cassidy Stinton (deceased) and a nephew Mitchell Magrogan where they forged a bond that would last a lifetime.
I leave this last quote said many times by Dewey to his children, nieces and nephew: Don’t be a sissy or a follower; Lana, Dewey, Courtney, Charlie, Ashley, Destiny and Mitchell.
“Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and then leave a trail” -Ralph Waldo Emerson
