Diane Hennelly Martini

Diane Hennelly Martini of North Fort Myers, Florida, passed away unexpectedly on June 13, 2023 after a brief illness. She was surrounded by her loving family. 

Diane grew up on Royal Street in Quincy, Massachusetts, in a boisterous household alongside her sister, Susan, and her beloved aunts and uncles. She went on to graduate from Scituate high school before starting her family. 

Diane was predeceased by her father, Richard Hennelly, grandparents, Ruth & Thomas Hennelly, and several aunts, uncles, cousins, great friends and family members.

She is survived by her husband, Robert Martini of North Fort Myers, FL; her sister, Susan Canavan and husband Joseph of Quincy, MA; daughter, Kelly Butler Marchena and her husband, James of Wesley Chapel, FL; son, Ryan Martini and his wife, Domenique, of Punta Gorda, FL; daughter, Taylor Martini of Fort Myers, FL; and Jordan Panik of Cape Coral, FL. She will also be missed by her uncle Ron Hennelly and his wife, Alyce, of Del Ray Beach, FL; mother in law, Alice Lavigne of Weymouth, MA; aunt, Alyce Hennelly of Pine Island, FL; cousin, Tommy Hennelly and wife, Mary, of Pine Island, FL; and cousin, Keith of Port Charlotte, FL. She will also forever be remembered by many nieces, nephews, cousins, in laws, extended family and the friends of her children that also loved her and referred to her as "Mom." 

She loved making art and was very active in the artist community in Matlacha, Florida, where she was an inn keeper for several years. She also was an avid reader, story teller, helpful neighbor and friend. Diane loved gathering with family, especially when they would come to visit her in Florida and loved to laugh and tell old stories. 

Diane held many titles in her life but none so beloved as Yaya, a grandmother to Declan, Charlotte, Claire, Everly and Carter. Whether she was spending time with them at Disney or snuggling up with them on the couch, she loved being a grandmother. Her love for her children, her grandchildren, her family, and those who she took care of as her own will live eternal in the legacy she has left behind. 

A Celebration of Life for Diane will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, July 15, 2023 at Mullins Memorial, 3654 Palm Beach Blvd., Fort Myers, FL 33916. A light lunch and reception will follow at the same location.
