Diane Bridget Soppa

Diane Bridget Soppa, 74, of North Fort Myers, FL passed away on Thursday, January 30, 2025. She was born in Washington, DC to Pauline L. Staunton and Neil A. Swift, now deceased.

 She was raised in Maryland and made a career working as a Communications Representative at the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers labor union. In 1979 she married James M. Soppa, now deceased. The two shared many adventures during their life together including multiple cross-country trips on their Harley Davidson, traveling in their camper and playing golf.

She will be deeply missed by her children, Bridget Fitzgerald (Gary), Nicholas Soppa (Venus), grandchildren, Courtney Soppa-Garvett (Tyler), Jordan James (Kenny), Dillon Fitzgerald, great-grandson Trevor Garvett, as well as honorary family members Carrie Windsor (Jim), Kayla Lombardi (Matthew), Alex Sheehan, Nixon Lombardi, Delta Lombardi and Fitzgerald Lombardi. Diane was also close with and loved her two brothers Neil Swift (Carrie) and John Swift (Debi), along with niece Erin Swift, nephews Ryan Swift (Jen), Jason Swift (Maggie) and Steven Swift; as well as great-niece Sophie Swift. Last, but certainly not least, Diane held dear the constant companionship of her dog Lilly.

Diane considered herself blessed to have life-long friends, who were like family, and to have been part of the Tamiami Village community. She touched many people with her loving, generous, and joyful heart. She would want those who loved her to cherish their fond memories and find happiness in life.
