Donald "Donny" Louie Garcia

October 12, 1954 — June 7, 2024

Donald Louie Garcia’s love of life did not come to an end with his death. Donny passed away in Cape Coral, Florida on June 7, 2024 at the age of 69 after a courageous battle with cancer.

Donny was born October 12, 1954 in Pasa Robles, California to John Marcellino Garcia and Barbara Jean Brown Garcia, now deceased. He is survived by brothers, John Salgado, Jr., Joey Salgado and Steven Garcia all living in Watsonville, California. He was also survived by his loving partner, Cindy Ann Anderson and faithful dog, Kato.

From 1958 to 1963 Donny lived in Paso Robles, California. In 1963 he moved to Morro Bay, California and later moved to Watsonville, California, where Donny graduated from Watsonville High School in 1972. Donny was a proud member of the Police Association Mounties Little League team. Donny’s earliest jobs were with Union Ice and Loomis Armored car services. In the mid-1970s, Donny worked for the Santa Cruz Sheriff’s Department where he became a long time Santa Cruz resident. Donny ended his career with Scotts Valley Water District. During this time, he dated Cindy Stanton (aka Cindy Anderson). After 40 years of friendship apart, they rekindled their friendship and moved to Florida in order to continue the battle against cancer. Cindy was with Donny during his last years of life until his passing.

Donny started working out at a very early age, performing 500 sit-ups per day. He continues his two-hour workout throughout his life, even through his battles with cancer, right through the end. He was quite proud of not missing a workout day. Donny loved guns and had a passion for collecting them. He loved going to the shooting range. He spent several years building a custom rifle that he really enjoyed.

Donny was an avid salt-water fisherman and was able to try his luck in the beautiful waters of Florida. Donny loved golf and had retired to Lake Havasu, Arizona where he met some of his best and lifelong friends. Donny loved dogs and loved going to the dog park, which inspired some of his friendships. He also was a huge Bruce Lee film and Kung Fu TV show fan. He loved playing horseshoes and had a passion for chili cookoffs, winning several first-place awards.

No formal services are planned at this time. Informal gatherings will be held the summer of 2024 at the family home in Watsonville, California. Donny and Cindy will be released to the sea of Morro Bay, California upon her passing. They will continue their adventures together.
