In Remembrance of Donald Lee Gronewold
Donald Lee Gronewold, 90, passed peacefully from this earth to eternal life on June 21, 2023 in his home at Gulf Coast Village, Cape Coral FL. He was born January 31, 1933.
He was born to Louis F and Frieda (Albers) Gronewold in Quincy IL and lived two miles north of Golden IL on a farm and later raised in Gifford IL. His parents preceded him in death. After High School, he went on to further his education in Chicago where he met and married the love of his life Lola Jean Dawson in 1957. They raised their three daughters in Franklin Park IL and moved to Algonquin IL soon after the girls finished college. Don retired from Motorola after 39 years, then moved to Sable Springs in North Fort Myers Fl in 1996 before moving to Gulf Coast Village, Cape Coral FL in 2015. Don and Lola were strong in their faith and believed in Christ being members of both Grace Church in Cape Coral FL and Gulf Coast Village Chapel.
They had three daughters, Sandra Jean (Ralph) Brown, of Lake Zurich, IL, Donna Lynn (John) Foley of Monticello, IL, Mary Lou (deceased), her husband (Patrick) Kinney of Lake Zurich, IL; one sister, Lois (Jeff) Phillips of Watervliet, MI; eight grandchildren, Stephan and David Brown, Jack, Benjamin and Emily Foley, Jackie, Stephanie and Mark Kinney; as well as five great grandchildren, Vanessa and Eliza Resendiz, Lucas and Paddy Weber and Evelyn Foley.
Don will be cremated, and his ashes committed at Immanuel Cemetery in Golden IL. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Gulf Coast Village Chapel, Cape Coral FL on Tuesday, June 27 at 11:00 am with an additional family gathering held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations made to Gulf Coast Village Employee Appreciation Fund, 1333 Santa Barbara Blvd, Cape Coral FL 33991 or Grace Church Missions, 13 SE 21st Place, Cape Coral FL 33990.
