Donald Lee Klein, 91, a resident of Cape Coral since 2021, formerly of St. Louis, MO, passed away Sunday, January 26, 2025 in Cape Coral. He was born August 21, 1933 in University City, MO to Xavier and Della Klein, now deceased.
Don was of the Catholic faith and attended St. Andrew Catholic Church in Cape Coral. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army, dedicating himself to protecting the freedoms we hold dear. His commitment to service extended beyond his military career, as a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), where he forged bonds of camaraderie and community with fellow veterans.
Don was known for his uncanny resemblance to Colonel Sanders, a role he embraced with joy and humor. Whether he was belting out classic tunes during karaoke nights or enjoying his favorite Busch beer, he always brought laughter and warmth to every gathering.
He is survived by two loving children, Bridget Gallaugher (Jerry) of Cape Coral, and Pamela Kotovsky, also of Cape Coral; four grandchildren, Emily Smith, Emmett Kotovsky, Brenon Kotovsky, and Kayla Worden; three great grandchildren, Ava Smith, Abigail Ragsdale, and Vincent Rohleder; as well as a niece, Lorri Milward of Kirkwood, MO.
Don was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Lee in 2001.
Don will be buried with Military Honors at Sarasota National Cemetery, 9810 State Rd 72, Sarasota, FL 34241.
