Donna Hendry Stanaland

Donna Sue Hendry Stanaland went to her heavenly home on April 8, 2020 at the age of 75.

Donna is survived by her husband, Jackie “Captain Jack” Stanaland; her step-daughter, Melissa Thomas (“TW”); her granddaughters, Abigail and Megan; her sisters, Pearle H. Warren and Joanne H. Neubauer; her brother, William “Bill” Hendry (Pat); and many beloved nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Edward Everett and Leah Crevasse Hendry; her brother, Edward “Ed” Hendry; and sisters, Irene H. Goulding and Bette H. Bollinger. 

Donna was born in Ft. Myers, FL on April 11, 1944 to Edward Everett and Leah Crevasse Hendry. She attended Fort Myers Senior High School, then moved to Yokohama, Japan to graduate. After graduating high school, Donna returned to the United States and worked as an entrepreneur, making and selling vases and lamps, but her real passion was real estate. She practiced real estate in southern California and Ft. Myers, FL for almost 25 years, enjoying the one-on-one relationships that developed while putting buyers and sellers in homes of their dreams.

Donna and Jackie married on August 17, 1991. They lived a blessed and active life together for nearly 28 years, spending countless days on the water in Captain Jack’s boat, fishing and soaking up the warm Florida sunshine. Donna’s favorite activities and hobbies included: tennis, gardening, cooking, and walking and playing with her beloved dog, Lily-Peach. She also enjoyed pampering her ever-so-shy cat, Eddie-Pearle.

In her final days, Donna spent time thinking of others that have touched her life in a special way. She had a knack for sending beautifully handwritten notes to loved ones, sharing her faith and expressing her love. She planned to write some final notes, but could not find the strength, so undoubtedly, she passed peacefully consumed by thoughts of those near and dear to her. 

A celebration of life has been postponed due to limitations on social gatherings at this time, but will be scheduled in the coming weeks.
