Doris Mae Watkins

Doris Mae Watkins, a resident of Lee County, FL since 1967, formerly of Wyanet, IL, passed away Monday, January 25, 2021 in North Fort Myers, FL. She was born in Bureau County, IL to Walter and Maggie Heggemeier, now deceased.

Doris was of the Methodist faith. A loving Wife, Mother, Sister and Grandmother, Doris lived to love others. She was a licensed Cosmetologist, able to cut and style both Men and Women’s hair. Over a period of thirty years, Doris owned and operated four Beauty Salons. Two Salons in Illinois and another two in Florida after moving there in 1967. Doris and her husband Roger also operated a successful Marketing Business, in which they helped others build and maintain their own businesses.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 50 years, Roger Watkins of North Fort Myers; five loving children, Lana Rae Nankervis of Cape Coral, FL, Larre Todd Pate (Gina) of St. James City, FL, Elissa Walker (Ronnie) of Mesa, AZ, Randy Burgess (Victoria) of Clearwater, FL, and Terri McNeill (Don) of Waddell, AZ; brother, Donald Heggemeier of North Fort Myers; son in law, Douglas Christiansen of Concord, NC; 13 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Doris was preceded in death by daughter, Linda Christiansen and sister, Donna Boehle.
