Dorothy “Dottie” Ann Tronnes, 64, a longtime resident of Lee County, passed away Thursday, May 9, 2024 in Tampa, FL. She was born December 6, 1959 in Levittown, PA to Stanley and Dorothy Wassel, now deceased.
Dottie was of the Catholic Faith. She was a graduate of Cypress Lake High School – class of 1977 and attained her Associate of Arts degree from Edison Community College in Fort Myers in 1979. Dottie completed her education at the Florida State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Leisure Services and Studies in 1981.
Her professional career was spent in the service of residents in retirement communities beginning at Gulf Coast Village in Cape Coral, FL. Most recently, she was employed at Shell Point Retirement Community in Fort Myers, FL.
Dottie’s proudest accomplishment was raising her children. She enjoyed kayaking, working in her garden, walking her dogs, and traveling to new places with her husband.
Dottie will be remembered for her joy of life, passion for people and her love of animals.
She is survived by her loving husband of 40 years, James Tronnes, of Fort Myers; two children, Stephanie Tronnes of New York, NY and Alexander “Alex” Tronnes of Cape Coral; one brother, Donald Wassel (Diane) of Chambersburg, PA; one nephew, Stanley J. Wassel, IV of Dublin, Ireland as well as two sisters-in-law, Ruth Wassel of Ireland and Kathy Graham (John) of Alpharetta, GA.
Dottie was preceded in death by a brother, Stanley J. Wassel, III.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date, to be announced by the family.
