Douglas Stanley Strand, 61, a resident of Cape Coral, FL for the past 20 years, formerly of Andover, MN, passed away Saturday, February 2, 2019 in Cape Coral. He was born October 8, 1957 in Minneapolis, MN to Stanley and Beverly Strand, now deceased.
Douglas was a member of Fil-Am Christian Church in Cape Coral. He was a very talented and conscientious commercial printer. After earning his associate’s degree, he worked primarily for Japs-Olson Company in Minnesota, with his final position being with Southwest Direct in Florida.
Along with working full-time, Douglas and his wife Richilda also ran their own family business, called Strand Concessions, providing tasty food and beverage at concerts and festivals throughout the Twin Cities and beyond.
Douglas will be remembered by how caring and giving he was towards all he knew. One conversation is all it took to become instant friends. He was never selfish and always wanted to help and share with people, known among his coworkers as someone who was always willing to share his wisdom and teach them what he knew in order to help them succeed.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 36 years, Richilda “Richie” Strand of Cape Coral; two loving children, Christopher Witkowski (Jennifer) of San Jose, CA and Brian Strand of Cape Coral; two siblings, Sue Strand and Dave Strand, both of Blaine, MN; two grandchildren, Joshua and Alyssa; two nieces, Gabby and Danielle; as well as a niece in law, Sandy Mahan of Casselberry, FL.
Memorial Services will be held 1:00 PM on Sunday, February 17, 2019 at Fil-Am Christian Church, 212 SW 2nd Ave., Cape Coral, FL 33991 with Pastor Abner Cadorna officiating.
