Douglas Robert Wacker, 62, a resident of North Fort Myers, FL since 2012, formerly of Richmond, VA passed away suddenly, Sunday, December 29, 2024, at his home in North Fort Myers. He was born February 4, 1962, in Englewood NJ.
Doug graduated from Dumont High School in 1980 and enlisted in the United States Navy. During his time as a Navy Corpsman on the U.S.S. America. Doug was dispatched to the terrorist attack on the US Marine Barracks in Beruit, Lebanon. He was honorably discharged in 1986. He began his career as a Police Officer for the City of Richmond police department in 1987 and proudly served until his retirement in 2008. While serving, he received several commendations. In his retirement years, Doug enjoyed assembling model cars, airplane and Naval ships.
Doug was active in his Heritage Lakes Community, Serving as Head of the Neighborhood Watch. He was also a member of the Heritage Veterans Association.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Pamela Barnes Wacker of North Fort Myers; mother-in-law, Barbara Barnes of Butler, PA; brothers, Steven Wacker (Tatiana), and Keith Wacker (Geraldine); brothers in law, Joe Dillon and Tim (Marion) Barnes; Sisters in law, Candee (Chris Collins) Barnes and Joyce Barnes; nieces, Daenerys, Kelly, Ciaera, Noelle, Morgan, Carley, Jessica & Jennifer; nephews, Keith Jr., Emmerich, Joseph and Spencer; as well as AJ (Ansel, Jr.), his beloved dog.
Douglas was preceded in death by his loving mother, Jeanne Lemarie Wacker; father, William Wacker; sister, Debbie Dillon; as well as a sister in law, Terri Barnes Cook.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 12:00 PM on Wednesday, February 5, 2025 at the Heritage Lakes Clubhouse, 3000 Heritage Lakes Boulevard, North Fort Myers with Military Guard, and a luncheon to follow.
