Edward Leo Chapman (Poppy)

Edward Leo Chapman (Poppy), 83, a resident of Cape Coral, FL since 2015, formerly of Pembrooke Pines, FL, passed away Monday, December 5, 2022 in Cape Coral. He was born April 21, 1939 in Pittsburg, PA to Waldo and Mary Chapman, now deceased.

Edward was of the catholic faith and attended St. Katherine Drexel church. He was an avid sports fan and loved his Pittsburgh teams.  He rarely missed a Penguins, Steelers, Pitt or Pirates game.  He enjoyed traveling and was very proud of his career as a software engineer in the Airline Industry.  He enjoyed spending time with his family and shared puns daily to keep his family smiling.  He was a master at trivia and could beat anyone at Jeopardy until the day he passed.  He loved his pets fiercely: his dog, Rosie, and cat, Louie, were always by his side. He was part of the Cape Coral Senior community and played Pinochle and Euchre at the Senior Center weekly. He treasured the friendships he made at the Senior Center.  His greatest accomplishments were being a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.  It is for this he will never be forgotten.

He is survived by his loving children, Joanne Lopez of Cape Coral, Pam Washington (Daniel) of Cape Coral, and Michaele LePage (Yvan) of Fort Lauderdale, FL; brother, James Chapman (Elaine) of Pittsburgh, PA; grandchildren, Johnnie Neckar (Rachel), Brian Lopez (Katelyn), Jennifer Holcomb (Aaron), Kristina Coleman (Tom), Elizabeth LePage, Cathy LePage, and Theresa LePage; as well as great grandchildren, Luke Holcomb, Noelle Holcomb, and Rowan Neckar.

Edward was preceded in death by loving wife, Joanne Chapman in 2017.

A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, December 12, 2022 at St. Katherine Drexel Church, 1922 SW 20th Ave, Cape Coral, FL 33991. The family will be receiving friends for a time of visitation from 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM on Friday, December 9, 2022 at Mullins Memorial, 3654 Palm Beach Blvd, Fort Myers, FL 33916.
