Edward John Farr

Edward John Farr, 99 years “young”, died Thursday, September 26, 2019 at his home at Palmview Assisted Living, Gulf Coast Village, Cape Coral, FL.  He is survived by his wife of 74 years, Ruth, also from Palmview; children, Betty (Doug) Ball from Colorado, Jean (Bob) Zaboth from Virginia, and Ed (Margie) Farr from Minnesota. He had 6 wonderful grandchildren, 7 beautiful great grandchildren, and an exchange-student daughter, Merete, from Denmark.

Edward was born on February 1, 1920 in Chicago, IL and grew up in Cicero, IL.   He was a WWII veteran having served in the Army Air Corp as a pilot.  Ed worked as a Pattern maker building molds and patterns for new cars, rockets, and other machines until his retirement.  He and Ruth moved to Cape Coral, FL in 1989.  Ed loved life and had countless experiences camping, skiing, hiking, and traveling to many countries and all 50 states. He was creative, worked on many “cardboard” boats for Cape Coral’s Cardboard Boat Races, designed backdrops and props for plays and their church’s Bible School, and created beautiful Christmas decorations.  He was actively involved with the grand opening of the Veterans’ bridge.  Family treasures are handcrafted doll houses he painstakingly made for his great granddaughters.  Ed and Ruth belonged and attended Faith Presbyterian Church for 30 years.

Edward was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Lillian Farr, his sister Lillian, infant brother Lincoln and grandson Brian.  

A Memorial Service is planned for Monday afternoon, September 30, 2019 at 3:00 in the Gulf Coast Village Auditorium, 1333 Santa Barbara Blvd., Cape Coral, FL 33991 with Pastor Bob Inkenbrandt officiating.
