Evelyn Angela Filippi Bitz

Evelyn Angela Filippi Bitz, 80, a resident of Cape Coral, FL for the past 20 years, formerly of Broward County, FL and Brooklyn, NY, passed away Saturday, May 18, 2024 in Cape Coral. She was born January 27, 1944 in Brooklyn, NY to Italo and Gabriella  Filippi, now deceased.

Evelyn was of the Roman Catholic Faith. She had a degree in education and worked as a special education teacher for many years. Most of her career, she gave her love and attention to the severely handicapped children she taught. Children truly made her happy, particularly her grandchildren. She enjoyed spending holidays with family and watching her grandchildren grow. She was known as “Nanny”, to all the grandchildren and their friends. She will be remembered fondly and missed by all who knew her. 

She is survived by loving children, Michael Stone (Velvet) of Decatur, IL, Veronica Brown (Frank Brown) of Green Sea, SC, and Matthew Bitz (Jennifer) of Cape Coral; nine grandchildren, Alex, Ryan, Alyssa, Frank, Jon, Andrew, Gianna, Matthew, and Thomas; as well as four great grandchildren, Kash, Apiphany, Caleb, and Jacob.

Evelyn was preceded in death by husband, Michael Bitz in 1998.

The family will be receiving friends for a Time of Visitation from 6:00 PM until the time of service. Funeral Services will be held at 7:00 PM on Thursday May 23, 2024 at Mullins Memorial, 3654 Palm Beach Blvd, Fort Myers, FL 33916.
