Everett Sanford Owens, Jr., 73, a resident of Cape Coral, FL, formerly of Massachusetts, passed away Sunday, March 10, 2024 at his home in Cape Coral. Everett was born September 26, 1950 in Everett, MA to Everett and Bertha Owens, now deceased.
Everett was fully devoted to his wife, Ginny, who he was with for 41 years, and his children, Melissa Jade, of Wellington, FL, Justin Owens and his wife Carmela, of Winter Garden, FL, and Cari Teague of Millis, MA. He also leaves behind Trina Brown. He loved his grandchildren, Zac Mondello, Madelynn Krueger, and Ethan Krueger, Haven Owens, Lochlan Owens, and Knox Owens, Whitney Owens, Darren Hope, Aleesha Owens, Neo Hackett and Nia Owens, and his 9 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his sister Donna Niciewsky and his brother Chuck Morrow.
He is also survived by his sisters, Eva Koerbel, Linda Jenkins, Judy Hulskamper, Roberta Morrow, and Connie Cardosa, and brothers Marty Everett and Bobby Morrow and Uncle Walter and Aunt Joyce Owens. He also loved spending time with his many cousins and nieces and nephews, especially Judy Patricko, who recently moved to Cape Coral.
Representing the military in the family and that special bond between them, his grandson, Darren Hope, US Coast Guard E6.
Everett served in the Army from 1968-1971 and was a Vietnam War Veteran. He worked in HVAC until his retirement in 2018. After being bored in retirement, he obtained his CDL and went to work for LeeTran in 2023.
He thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, riding his Harley, tending to his plants and gardens while listening to his favorite music, building boats for the cardboard boat races, and watching Judge Judy. He also enjoyed travelling to new cities in the U.S and cruises to the Caribbean.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, March 18, 2024 at Mullins Memorial, 3654 Palm Beach Blvd, Fort Myers, FL 33916 with military honors presented. There will also be a celebration of his life in Massachusetts at a later date.
