Felipe A. Cruz

March 28, 1954 - February 4, 2019

Felipe Armando Cruz, 64, a resident of North Fort Myers, FL for the past 30 years, formerly of Camden, NJ, passed away Monday, February 4, 2019 in North Fort Myers. He was born March 28, 1954 in San German, Puerto Rico.

Felipe spent his adolescent life between New York and New Jersey. He was a graduate from Woodrow Wilson High School, class of 1973. He later relocated to Fort Myers, FL where he made his life as a truck driver, and an entrepreneur, owning his own business and selling pasteles, coining him the nickname, “El Pastelero.” He was an amazing family man, helping raise 3 additional children Ivonne, Letty and Nick. He had a heart of gold and was always willing to give a helping hand. He Loved to make everyone laugh and enjoyed traveling to different countries with his long-term partner Odette Jennings.

He is survived by his loving mother, Iluminada Velasquez of Avon Park, FL; three loving children, Zulette Cruz of Pennsauken, NJ, Armando Cruz (Serene) of Cape Coral, FL, and Diana Cruz of Round Rock, TX; seven siblings, Virginia Cruz of Ocala, FL, Carlos Cruz of Fort Myers, FL and Miguel Cruz of Avon Park, FL, Edwin Cruz, Cesar Cruz, Anibal Cruz and Vivian Cruz all of Camden, NJ; as well as three grandchildren.

Felipe was preceded in death by his father, William Cruz and brother William Cruz Jr.

Funeral Services will be held 12:00 PM on Saturday, February 9, 2019 at Mullins Memorial, 3654 Palm Beach Blvd., Fort Myers, FL 33916 with Miguel Cruz officiating. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM.
