It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved father, Frank O. Bailey, Jr., age 92, who died peacefully on Friday, March 14, 2025, in Cape Coral, Florida. Frank was born on October 21, 1932, in Mystic, Connecticut, to Frank Bailey, Sr. and Marjorie Foley, both now deceased.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 68 years, Gloria Bailey, in 2024, as well as four siblings. He is survived by his sister, DiAnn Morrison, of Niantic, CT.
Frank proudly served his country as a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. In September 2016, he was honored for his service with a trip to Washington, D.C., as part of the Collier County Honor Flight, accompanied by his dear friend Bob Kelly.
Frank began his career in law enforcement as a Groton City Police Officer and later worked in security for many years at General Dynamics Electric Boat. After relocating to Florida, he continued his commitment to public service as a part-time Bailiff with the Lee County Sheriff’s Office in Fort Myers, retiring in July 2019. He was actively involved in the Groton Elks Club during his time in CT, serving as Exalted Ruler 1970 -1971.
He is survived by his two children: David Bailey and his wife Deanna of Warwick, RI and Debbie Brent and her husband Ken of Fort Myers, FL. He was a proud grandfather to seven grandchildren—Alexii, Ashley, Tate, Benjamin, Grant, Kendall, and Michael—and one cherished great-granddaughter, Lilly.
Frank was an avid golfer and treasured every moment spent on the course. He enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, especially sharing breakfast and laughter with friends and loved ones.
Frank was a longtime member of Sacred Heart Church in Groton, Connecticut, and later St. Therese Catholic Church in North Fort Myers, where he served as an usher.
A joint memorial service to honor both Frank and his beloved wife, Gloria, will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, April 14, 2025, at Sarasota National Cemetery, 9810 State Road 72, Sarasota, FL 34241.
