Gary William Kerr, 64, a Lee County resident since 2004, formerly of Rutherford, NJ, passed away Sunday, June 28, 2015 at Hope Hospice in Cape Coral. He was born January 23, 1951 in Passaic, NJ to Wallace and Sophie Kerr, now deceased.

Gary was of the Catholic faith. He graduated from Don Bosco Prep in Ramsey, NJ where he was a linebacker on the Ironmen Football Team. He served in the United States Naval Air Reserve from 1970 to 1972. He was a volunteer firefighter with the Rutherford Fire Department. He belonged to the Knights of Columbus Council 3644 in Wallington, NJ and was a Past Faithful Navigator in the Santa Maria Assembly Fourth Degree. He also coached baseball on the Rutherford Little League. He loved bowling, fishing, and going to the beach. He retired from Honeywell after 22 years of being a maintenance electrician.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 43 years, Barbara Kerr of Cape Coral; children, Kerri Leto of Franklin, NJ, and Kevin Kerr (Ninurta El Bey) of Cape Coral; sister, Brenda Lupi (John) of Matawan, NJ, and brothers, Wallace Kerr (Mavis) of Norwich, NY and Jeffrey Kerr of Lake Ariel, PA; grandchildren, Angela and Jesse; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Gary was recently preceded in death by his loyal friend, Honey Bear, the golden retriever.

A Memorial Service will be held in NJ at a later date.
