Gary Paul O’Connor, 51, a resident of Lehigh Acres, FL, formerly of Queens, NY and Dublin Ireland, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, October 11, 2022 in Fort Meyers FL. He was born April 24, 1971 in Dublin, Ireland.

Gary always kept us all guessing what he would get up to next. His adventures took him from Dublin to New York City to the Blue Ridge mountains of Virginia and finally settling in Fort Myers. Gary’s life was filled with so many friends, adventures, and a wealth of experiences he really did live life to the full – perhaps having more lifetimes than any of us imagine. We often thought if it wasn’t for his bad luck he’d have no luck at all – but through it all he will always be remembered for his kindness, generosity of spirit and his mischievous sense of humor. He always saw the funny side to everything, he knew how to make you laugh, giving his family and friends so many funny and special memories – he had such a big heart!  Perhaps one of his best attributes was his resilience, from bar tender in NYC to postal worker in FL, he worked hard taking pride and satisfaction in all that he achieved, no matter what life threw at him he squared up to the challenge and faced it head on. He loved his family more than anything and always put them first. Gary loved his nieces and nephew very much and they loved him back. Gary will be hugely missed but will always be remembered.

He is survived by his father, Paul O’Connor of Ireland; siblings, Claudine Short (Kevin), and Leon O’Connor (Wendy) both of Dublin, Ireland; nieces, Georgia Rose Short, Scarlet Short, Amy O’Connor, Matilda Short, Riley Short, and Holly O’Connor; as well as nephew, Shane O’Connor.

Gary was preceded in death by his loving mother, Rose O’Connor, and nephew, Oliver Short.

Private memorial services will be held.

Mullins Memorial Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cape Coral, is entrusted with final care.
