George Alfred Lamb, Jr.

George Alfred Lamb, Jr., 83, a Cape Coral resident since 1991, formerly of Fort Lauderdale, passed away on Monday, May 11, 2015 in Cape Coral. He was born on October 13, 1931 in West Palm Beach, FL to George A. Lamb, Sr. and Helena L. (nee Kinsey) Lamb, both deceased. George held a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electronics Engineering. During his career he worked at both Honeywell and Boeing in Seattle, Washington. At the time of his retirement in 1991 he was the Senior Electronics Engineer at the Naval Surface Warfare Center based in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. He was a world traveler and an adventurer. He hunted moose in Alaska, was a certified scuba diver, did a Skydive at the age of 79, flew to France to act as navigator and to help his friend sail his sailboat from France back to America. He always loved the water and boating beginning when he was a kid living near Mobil Bay in Mobile, Alabama. He would be on the Bay from morning to night in his small boat. He was a Gourmet Cook, always trying new recipes, especially exotic ones. He loved spicy food, and would determine if it was hot enough by if his forehead broke out in sweat when he ate it. He was always on the search for the hottest pepper. He had an unquenchable thirst for knowledge and was always researching something. Especially to his step-mother and his sisters he had a gentle heart beneath his sometimes gruff exterior. He was loved and will be missed.

He is survived by his loving step-mother who raised him, Libby Ekiss of Fort Myers; three loving sisters, Helen Casey, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Sherry Christman (Jerry) of Fort Myers, and Georgianna Scantlebury (Ned) of Cape Coral; his companion of 12 years, Jackie Ponushis of Cape Coral; as well numerous nieces and nephews.
