Gildardo Lopez Tristan

Gildardo Lopez Tristan, 68, a resident of Fort Myers, FL, passed away Friday, November 1, 2024. He was born September 1, 1956, in Matehuala, Mexico, to Pedro Lopez Jimenez and Rosa Tristan Leos, now deceased. 

Gildardo was of the Catholic faith.  He immigrated to the United States in 1973 to work as a farmworker until he began working in construction, he started his own masonry business, Lopez Masonry, Inc. with his brother in 1991 which later became Lopez Brothers Masonry, Inc. until he retired in 2021.  His mark on Fort Myers can be seen by the many high rises, homes, and buildings he took part in constructing throughout SWFL.  He will be remembered as a generous and hardworking man who loved to let loose on occasion and drink his tequila. He was a good father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend.  He always had these words for his children, “Pórtense bien que nada les cuesta.”  He loved to sing and dance, the last song he sang was Recuérdame Bonito.

He is survived by his six children, Esperanza Lopez (Rigo) of Labelle, FL, Rosa Lopez Martinez (Nacho) of Fort Myers, FL, Gildardo Lopez Jr. (Angela) of Fort Myers, FL, Esmeralda Ramirez of Houston, Texas, Alejandro Lopez of Fort Myers, FL and Enrique Lopez of Fort Myers, FL; his partner of 36 years, Jaqueline Larriuz of Fort Myers, FL; two sisters, Juana and Silveria Lopez Tristan of Mexico; two brothers, Alfredo Lopez Tristan of Punta Gorda, FL , and Francisco Lopez Tristan of Michigan; as well as fourteen grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. 

Gildardo is preceded in death by brothers, Ramiro Lopez Tristan, Donato Lopez, and Fructuoso Lopez Tristan.

The Family will receive friends for a Time of Visitation from 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM on Thursday, November 7, 2024, at Mullins Memorial, 3654 Palm Beach Blvd., Ft. Myers, 33916.

A Mass will be held at 9:30 AM on Friday, November 8, 2024, at Jesus the Worker Catholic Church, 881 Nuna Ave., Fort Myers, FL 33905, followed by interment at Fort Myers City Cemetery, 3200 Michigan Ave, Fort Myers, FL 33916.  After committal services, a Celebration of Life will be held at 40720 Little Farm Road, Punta Gorda, FL 33982. 

Mullins Memorial Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Fort Myers, is entrusted with final care.
