Harutun "Harry" Hartunian, 84, a resident of Venice, Florida since 2001, formerly of Belmont, MA passed away Thursday, December 24, 2015 in Venice. He was born January 22, 1931 in New Britain, Connecticut to Khazar and Ovsanna Hartunian, now deceased. Harry grew up in New Britain and always considered it home. As a young man he was active in the Armenian Church and community. He moved to Boston at age 14 with his family to support his sister's pursuit of a music degree. Harry remained in the Boston area until retiring to Florida. He graduated from Brighton High School, and furthered his education at Waltham Watch School. For 35 years he was the sole proprietor of Hartunian Jewelers, a jewelry and watch repair store in Cambridge MA. He was a popular man with many friends, best known for his sense of humor and fun-loving personality. Harry loved his cars, and he loved to drive them. He was a talented musician who played piano and clarinet. Harry was an avid dancer, especially known for his "jitterbug" moves. He also enjoyed watching football, and was a big fan of the New England Patriots. Family was very important to him, and he cherished those relationships. He is survived by his beloved wife, Gerda "Eva" Hartunian of Venice; two loving children, Mary Tero of Port Charlotte, FL and Charlotte Stephens of Pleasant Hill, CA and her husband Michael Stephens; two step-sons, John Logan of Boston, MA and Michael Logan of Belmont, MA, and his first wife and mother of his daughters, Virginia Hartunian of Chico CA. Harry also leaves behind many loving nieces, nephews and grandchildren. Harry was preceded in death by his sister Ardemis Griffin, and his sister Mary "Mimi" Kalashian and her husband Sahag Kalashian. A Memorial Service will be held from 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM on Sunday, February 7, 2016 at The Reformed Community Church, 1600 Banyan Drive, Venice, FL 34293. Memorial Contributions in memory of Harry Hartunian are suggested to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (Danny Thomas Foundation). Mullins Memorial Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cape Coral, is entrusted with final care. A Memorial Service will be held from 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM on Sunday, February 7, 2016 at The Reformed Community Church, 1600 Banyan Drive, Venice, FL 34293.
