Hunter Tracey Hughes, 19, a resident of Cape Coral, FL since 2010, passed away Wednesday, May 1, 2024 in North Fort Myers, FL. He was born April 28th, 2005 in Allentown, PA. He has always been a bright light in our lives and the lives of so many others. His infectious laughter, charismatic smile, compassionate spirit, spontaneous sense of humor, and unwavering kindness touched everyone he met. Hunter’s sudden departure from us has left us speechless with disbelief. In his short 19 years, Hunter lived a life full of love and the laughter he inspired.
Hunter was always the life of the party, from his toddler “Happy Feet” stomping to his high school TikTok dancing. Hunter loved the arts, excelled at violin and loved to be onstage. He was fearless on stages in North Fort Myers Academy of the Arts; always entertaining everyone around him. Whether working at the Lakehouse kitchen & bar at Babcock Ranch or Bimini Bait Shack, gaming with his friends, or simply spending time with family, he always radiated joy and positivity. He had such a bright future, which has dimmed much too soon.
He is survived by his loving mother, Heather Maldonado of Cape Coral; sister, Mirasia Beal; nephew, Ace William of Virginia Beach, VA; maternal grandmother, Cathy Williamson (Ricardo Algarra) of Cape Coral; paternal grandmother, Peggy Allen of Durham, NC; great great aunt, Shirley Thompson of Rocky Mount, VA; great aunts, Patti Williamson of Cheltenham, PA, Elise Gootherts (Tom Gootherts) of Ukiah, CA, Queenie McCain of Danville, VA, Francie and Barbara Barnette, and Stephanie Edwards of Roxboro, NC; great uncles, Billy Williamson of Lake Hopatcong, NJ, and Terry Thompson of Durham, NC; three uncles, Justin, Ryan and Jamie; two aunts, Tiffany and Regina; many cherished cousins, and his handsome pet dog, Jax.
Hunter was preceded in death by his loving father, Tracey Hughes; aunt, Tonya Thompson; as well as maternal
grandfather, Israel Maldonado. Only two weeks prior, Hunter's father passed away at the age of 45. Hunter was incredibly strong and mature in handling the necessary responsibilities of his father's passing. He gave an emotional and courageous eulogy at his father's funeral, highlighting the loss of his "best friend" and mentor -- crediting his father with instilling him with all the characteristics that have made Hunter the outstanding young man he had become.
