Ingeborg Chahmirzadi (née Glöckner)

December 5, 1940 — August 17, 2025

Naples, Florida

With deep love and gratitude for her life, the family of Ingeborg Chahmirzadi announces her passing on Sunday, August 17, 2025.

Born in Aachen, Germany in 1940, Ingeborg’s early years were shaped by the hardships of war and its aftermath. Having lost her father as a toddler, she was raised by her devoted mother under difficult circumstances. Even in those trying times, her intelligence, beauty, and determination shone through. As a young woman, she sought new opportunities beyond her homeland, moving to Switzerland where she worked as an au pair and for local companies. It was there that fate introduced her to a young medical student, Nasser Chahmirzadi. The two fell deeply in love, married, and began a journey together that spanned countries, cultures, and decades.

Ingeborg and Nasser welcomed their first child while living in Yverdon, Switzerland, before making the bold and life-changing move to the United States. They settled first in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, then Wheeling, West Virginia, where their second child was born. Though she sometimes marveled at the challenges of raising children in a new country so different from her own, Ingeborg embraced motherhood with grace and love. She delighted in nurturing her children while simultaneously learning to navigate American life.

Her spirit truly blossomed when the family moved to Rhode Island. In Newport, surrounded by the beauty of the sea and the warmth of a community that embraced her, Ingeborg built a happy home filled with laughter and gatherings. Later, she and Nasser relocated to Florida, where they enjoyed many years together in the sunshine. A natural friend-maker, Ingeborg’s presence was felt everywhere she went. With her lilting German accent and radiant smile, she was instantly recognizable, and greetings of “Hi Inga!” followed her wherever she went.

Ingeborg will be remembered not only for her resilience and adaptability, but for the light she brought into the lives of those who knew her. She had a gift for making people feel welcome, for creating a sense of home wherever she was, and for reminding others of the joy to be found in simple kindness and genuine connection.

She is survived by her beloved husband of many years, Nasser; her cherished children Nadereh (James) and Manou (Katherine); and her treasured grandchildren Claire, James Oliver, Nicolas, Sophie, Mia, and Julien, each of whom brought her immense pride and joy.

A private service celebrating Ingeborg’s life will be held on Tuesday, August 26. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Angelman Foundation, a cause close to their hearts.

Though Ingeborg’s earthly journey has come to an end, her legacy of love, warmth, and strength will live on in the hearts of her family and all who were blessed to know her.
