Jack Mitchell “Mitch” Bowles Jr., 52 of Fort Myers, Florida passed away on October 14, 2024 following a brief illness.
Mitch was born in Montgomery, Alabama on January 8, 1972 to Colleen (Bates) Bowles and Jack M Bowles, Sr. He attended grammar school at St. Richards in Jackson, Mississippi, middle school in Blowing Rock, North Carolina and completed his schooling at Milton High School in Milton, Vermont.
After high school Mitch proudly served our country in the U.S. Navy. He served aboard the U.S.S. Detroit for several years. He had a great respect for his county and the military. He made a point to always thank every Veteran he met for his or her service. Following his Naval service Mitch returned to Jackson, Mississippi and volunteered his time to serve as an auxiliary Deputy Sheriff in Hines County. In his early thirties Mitch started his own computer business that he successfully ran for the past 20 years in Naples, Florida.
From a young age Mitch loved computers, they were his passion. He was curious about them and spent his youth learning all he could about them. He was proud to admit he was a “self-taught computer guy”. Mitch started his career in computers at IBM in Essex Junction, Vermont and would later go on to work at Sony in Fort Myers, Florida. His years working at each company solidified and expanded his computer knowledge. This experience propelled him forward in the IT world and gave him the confidence he needed to start his own business.
Mitch is survived by his daughters, Sarra and Sydney. Sarra and her partner, Damon gave Mitch his first granddaughter, Autumn. He is survived by his parents, Colleen (Bates) Bowles and Jack M Bowles, Sr.; His aunts, Linda (Bates) Cader and Bonnie (Bates) Hurst and several cousins. He leaves behind his special Godmother, Bernadette (Bonnie) Mitchell whom he always gave credit to for his love of computers as she bought him his first computer.
He was predeceased by his grandparents, Edgar J. and Dolores Bowles as well as Joseph and Lucille Bates.
Mitch lived his life the best he knew. He was social and friendly to anyone he met. He would strike up a conversation with a stranger and soon a new friendship was created. Throughout his life and the places he lived, many lasting friendships were formed. He valued each and every one of them. Mitch had a generous heart and always helped anyone in need. While our hearts mourn the loss of him, we will take comfort in knowing that he is no longer suffering. He will be remembered and missed by many.
