James S. “Jay” Branyon, Jr., 55, a resident of Sanibel, Fort Myers, and Cape Coral, FL for the past 34 years, formerly of Memphis, TN, and Tunica, MS, passed away Monday, November 4, 2024 in Cape Coral. He was born January 11, 1969 in Memphis, TN. to Jim and Carroll Branyon.
Jay was of the Christian faith. He graduated from Memphis University School in Memphis, and attended The University of Alabama. After moving to Florida, he worked in the restaurant business until finding his dream job at a marina where he could be on the water and around boats every day. He worked there for many years until Hurricane Ian destroyed the marina. For the next 2 years he devoted his time to assisting in the cleanup from the hurricane, which led him to employment in the maintenance field in Ft Myers.
Although quiet by nature, Jay had many good friends, and a family who loved him very much. He will be remembered for his loyalty and willingness to help those in need, his friendliness, and his fun-loving attitude toward life. When thinking of Jay, the first thing one sees is that great smile of his. He is missed by many.
Having been predeceased by his father, James Branyon, he is survived by his loving mother, Carroll Branyon of Ft. Myers, FL; two children, Sarah Branyon and Jack Branyon, both of Ft. Myers; a sister, Darby Branyon of Ft. Myers, three nieces, Elizabeth Ladnyk (Steven Ladnyk) of Ft. Myers, Emma DeFonzo of Lehigh Acres, FL,and Ella DeFonzo of Ft. Myers, as well as a great niece, Branyon Ladnyk of Ft. Myers.
No formal services are planned at this time, however a Celebration of Life is being planned.
