James Richard Leckemby

James “Jim” Richard Leckemby, 88, a Lee County, Florida resident since 1989, formerly of Fredericksburg, VA and Pennsylvania, passed away Sunday, September 14, 2025 in Lehigh Acres, Florida. He was born August 30, 1937 in Fayette County, PA to Violet and James Leckemby, now deceased.

Jim was of the Episcopal faith. He worked 30 years for the telephone company. After he retired, he worked 10 more years as a telecommunications contractor. He will be remembered as an amazing father, grandfather, great grandfather and husband.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Jeanne Leckemby of Lehigh Acres, FL; four sons, Rodney Leckemby and wife Shawn of Union Town, PA, Danny Leckemby and wife Tiffany of Brownsville, TX, Jeff Leckemby and wife Karen of Hampton, VA and John Leckemby and wife Michelle of Fredericksburg, VA; daughter-in-law, Debbi Leckemby of Georgia; three sisters, Jane Philpott and husband Frank of Smithville, PA, Rosemary Rockwell and husband Gilbert also of Smithville and Barbara Hinebaugh of Ormond Beach, FL; 17 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Jim was also preceded in death by a daughter, Susan Parker and a son, James Leckemby, Jr.

Memorial Contributions in memory of Jim Leckemby can be made to St. Jude.

The memorial will be Saturday the 27th at 11:00 am at Hope Hospice located at 1201 Wings Way, Lehigh Acres, FL 33936.
